Temporary OSGrid region procedure - Export OAR/IAR before shutdown - Essential if you have no console
Create temporary OSGrid region to export OAR/IAR
Goal: open empty region on OSGrid, drop all scattered objects, leave with clean .oar. Essential if you have no console, or you are tenant without rights, or builds scattered across 5 different regions.
🌿 What does "vanilla" mean? Vanilla = pure official binaries 150MB from opensimulator.org, without DreamGrid. For this procedure, you use OSGrid preconfigured version, but after you will switch to vanilla at home.
You have no OSGrid console (tenant, parcel) → you cannot do save oar. By creating temporary region yourself, you become owner, you have console, you can save.
Your objects are scattered across 4-5 OSGrid regions closing → you rez them all same place in temp region, then do single clean OAR.
Your OSGrid inventory is 20GB → you cannot do 30GB IAR at once (3 days, crash risk). You rez per folder in temp region, you do clean partial OARs.
Your old region was already deleted → you only have inventory left. You rez everything in temp region, then save oar to recreate a region.
1. Download OSGrid preconfigured version
Don't take vanilla for this step! Download OSGrid sip from: https://www.osgrid.org/download It is already ready for login.osgrid.org, no need to edit GridCommon.ini. Official vanilla (150MB) is for after, when you host at home in standalone.
Choose name and free coordinates: check OSGrid map to find empty spot (coords 10000,10000+ often free)
Validate, site gives you region .ini file (ex: MyTempRegion.ini) to put in bin/Regions/
3. Launch your temporary region

# Your region appears on OSGrid in few minutes

4. Centralize objects then export OAR/IAR
In viewer, go to your new temporary OSGrid region, and rez everything you want to save:
From OSGrid inventory: drag-drop builds into region
From your other OSGrid regions: Take → inventory → rez in temp region
From your local IARs if you have: load iar in temp console then rez
Once everything centralized, in OSGrid console of your temp region:
save oar MyTempRegion-BEFORE-SHUTDOWN.oar
save iar First Last "/My Objects/My Builds" builds.iar mypass
save iar First Last "/My Textures" textures.iar mypass

⚠️ Sandbox, not durable
This temporary region will also be wiped on 12/31/2026. Just to centralize and make clean OAR before leaving to vanilla standalone / Wolf / Bloodmoon / Kitely / DreamGrid. After export, you will import your OAR in new world with load oar.
5. And if I really have no console?
If even creating temporary region is impossible (no PC to host, no OSGrid account), ask OSGrid owner friend to lend you temporary parcel in his region, drop everything, and let him do save oar for you. It's primary utility of temporary region: give console to those who don't have it.
